| The Coaching Development course
has been an extraordinary experience. I had expected the course to be particularly
rigorous and un-formulaic, which is why I had chosen it over other possible
courses, but I hadn’t expected the course to impact in such a major way
– for the better – on other aspects of my life.
I guess this is because the structure
of the course, with the introduction of new theory always being followed
by experiential work, with both demonstrations and practice sessions, with
feedback as part of every day of every module, and with the requirement
that we undertake coaching sessions between modules, meant that we are
effectively being intensively coached over the five months of the course.
The personal development aspects
of the course have been particularly powerful, which I think says a lot
about the commitment and calibre of the participants, the mentors and the
trainers. I’m far more comfortable in my own skin and more at ease with
other people than I was five months ago, quite apart from feeling confident
in my ability to work effectively as a coach and knowing how to go about
developing my coaching skills further.
I’ve been stimulated, entertained,
disturbed, challenged, encouraged, enlightened and inspired - in the process
of being well-trained.
