Coaching Development Programme Achieves
ICF Accreditation
20/07/2005
Coaching
Development Ltd announced today that its Coaching Diploma Programme has
become one of only two UK-based coach training courses to achieve formal
accreditation from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as an Accredited
Coach Training Programme (ACTP).
Speaking about the accreditation,
Coaching Development Director Philip Brew said:
“Accreditation for both training
providers and coaches is vital in today’s discerning market, so this is
a significant milestone for us and for our graduates. The accreditation
process proved demanding and exhaustive – but, for us, it was imperative.
Achieving this recognition from the ICF reflects our passionate commitment
to developing individual coaches and contributing to the future development
of coaching as a profession.”
Established in 2002 by industry leaders
Philip Brew and Colin Brett, Coaching Development runs coach training courses
in the UK and Ireland. The taught courses (20 days face-to-face learning
over five months) are demanding and highly experiential, with an emphasis
on practice, observation and feedback. The full Diploma Programme,
which includes post-course supervision and examination of both practice
and theory, is designed for the in-depth development of the individual
as an ethical, effective, professional coach.
With Coaching Development’s accreditation,
successful completion of the Diploma now provides the critical step toward
individuals achieving an internationally recognised credential in this
rapidly growing profession. (Further client hours are the main additional
requirement to become an ICF certified coach.)
The ICF is the world’s largest independent
professional coaching body with more than 8000 members and 132 chapters
in 34 countries. ICF states that it seeks to preserve the integrity
of coaching around the globe and, as such, its assessment of coach training
programmes for accreditation is rigorous. To date, only 29 training
courses worldwide have met ICF’s exacting standards.
Coaching Development’s accreditation
application was prepared and processed over a period of more than one year.
Detailed written documentation and lengthy video submissions of the training
and the course instructors were required for ICF’s thorough evaluation
process.
